On 28th February 2018, class 7D conducted the school’s weekly assembly on the topic World’s Mother Language Day, which is celebrated worldwide on 21st Feb. First announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999, it was formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in a resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages. Its purpose is to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and promote multilingualism.

Since our school caters to students from every corner of the world, this topic was very apt and interesting. The assembly started with Quran recitation followed by the singing of the national anthem by the whole class. Students expressed on stage how the mother is called in each language and this was followed by a dance on multi-lingual song mash-up. The dance was well received by the audience and much appreciated. Speeches on the facts pertaining to languages were also shared.

Star performer of the week was Rivin Melwin of 7D on keyboards. A lot of interesting innovations were also showcased and the assembly was well received from all quarters.
