The students of Year 8C of Apple International School, conducted an assembly last October 3, 2016 to celebrate the “International Day of Non Violence”. This assembly was presented keeping in view that nonviolent methods of action have been a powerful tool for social protest, revolutionary social and political change in modern times.

Nikki and Mohammad Mahdi were the comperes for the day. The assembly was started with the recitation of few verses from the Holy Quran by Youssef Fouad and translated by Sameed Zafar. This was followed by the singing of the UAE National Anthem and the school song. Dustin shared the thought of Mahatma Gandhi, who is revered the world over for his non violent philosophy of passive resistance.

Marion read out the Apple News of the week. The students of 8C showcased a presentation taking up the roles of prominent leaders who advocated Non Violence across the globe. The students also entertained everyone by singing a song that stood for the need to promote Non Violence.

Finally, the Sports Captain was called upon to disperse the Assembly.
